Who needs a vacation on Barry Island when you can be stuck in the desert.
Gavin and Stacey’s Rob Brydon, 59, has landed a new job as a BBC presenter for upcoming adventure series Destination X, according to the Sun.
Filming for the show will begin next week, although filming for Gavin and Stacey, where he stars as Bryn West, only ends on Monday.
Destination X is based on a Belgian series in which the contestants are dropped off in an undisclosed location.
They then must use their survival skills and instincts to find out where they are.

Filming for the show will begin next week, although filming for Gavin and Stacey, where he stars as Bryn West, ends on Monday.
All participants travel in an unlit bus to an unknown location.
They will face challenges and games during their journey that will provide clues as to where they are.
But the contestant who places an X on the map furthest from their actual destination will be kicked off the bus and sent home.
A TV source told The Sun: “Destiny X will be huge for the BBC and they wanted a familiar face to take on it.
‘Rob is well-liked and incredibly funny, so he seemed like the ideal candidate to host the show.
“Filming begins at the mystery location this week.”
The BBC has reportedly invested £20 million in the adventure show and hopes the series will be “better than The Traitors”.

The 46-year-old actor, who plays Smithy, finished filming at the home of Gavin’s parents, Pamela (Alison Steadman) and Mick (Larry Lamb).
While in the comedy they reside in Billericay, Essex, the house they film in is in Dinas Powys, South Wales – and James was quick to thank local residents for their support.
He said as he headed out to greet the crowd of fans on the street: ‘Today is our last day in “Essex”.
‘Everyone at Dinas Powys was great about the show, so thank you very, very much.
“It means more to us than you’ll know and we hope you enjoy the show.”
The 46-year-old actor – who plays Smithy – finished filming at the location where Gavin’s parents Pamela (Alison Steadman) and Mick (Larry Lamb) live, which in the show is set in Billericay, Essex.
He quickly clarified in his speech that it wasn’t the last day of filming – just the last day of filming at Pam and Mick’s house in ‘Essex’.
James added that the last day of filming was supposed to be Monday – meaning today is technically the last day.
Ruth added as they spoke to loyal fans: ‘Thank you so much for being such dedicated fans and for being here every day and watching us, even though we’re hiding at home.
“We hope you enjoy our little episode on Christmas Day.”
