Neighbors announces two new characters and one returning character

Neighbors announced the arrival of two new faces, as Max Ramsay and Seb Metcalfe shake things up at Erinsborough, while Shane Ramsay returns.

Last week, Neighbors announced on its social media channels that Ben Jackson has joined the cast as Max Ramsay, son of Shane Ramsay (Peter O’Brien) and grandson of the original Max Ramsay (Francis Bell).

While the show did not provide further casting details, the accompanying social media post asked: “What brought a member of the show’s original family back to Erinsborough? Everything will be revealed…”

Making a brief return as part of Max’s arrival is his father Shane Ramsay, one of the series’ original characters, who made his debut in the first episode in 1985.

Shane left Erinsborough in 1987, but returned for the show’s final episodes in July 2022, when he reconnected with Paul (Stefan Dennis) and revealed that he was now a millionaire, having had a period of good luck with some cryptocurrency investments.

Shane offered to buy a stake in Lassiters, which would have helped Paul out of the difficult financial situation he found himself in thanks to his and Terese’s impending divorce, but he backed out when he learned of the questionable decisions Paul had made over the past few years. years.

Shane’s brief return to Erinsborough saw him hook up with Izzy Hoyland (Natalie Bassingthwaighte), who was dating Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan’s (Jackie Woodburne) son Malcolm (Benjamin McNair).

Izzy was attracted to Shane soon after finding out he was rich, and it wasn’t long before she was cheating on Mal with the handsome millionaire.

Peter O’Brien is set to reprise the role of Shane for a brief period, presumably as part of Max’s introduction to Ramsay Street.

Based on the publicity photo above of Max and his father Shane, along with an audition video discovered earlier this year, it is believed that Max will get a job as a mechanic at Fitzgerald Motors, the garage on Power Road.

The audition dialogue was discovered by members of Neighbors Fans, and saw Max sharing a flirtatious scene with Holly Hoyland (Lucinda Armstrong Hall), who would be his half-sister if Shane and Izzy got married:

MAXIMUM: Watch out – here’s the troublemaker!
HOLLY: Give me a break, Max, I’m not in the mood…
MAXIMUM: You’re the one following me!
HOLLY: It is not me!
MAXIMUM: If you’re looking for someone new to play you, just go back to the apps… Come on, I’m kidding!
HOLLY: Everything is a joke to you – you think you can do this cheeky act of talking for real and can get away with literally anything, in fact, you’re just an idiot and that’s why no one can stand you around here!
MAXIMUM: You don’t like me, Holly. That’s fine, but I think you’re turning the corner because you hate yourself.
HOLLY: Oh, did that make you feel good?
MAXIMUM: Holly, wait, stop. Sorry. That was… a real idiotic act. Let me buy you a drink?
HOLLY: Why? So can you do more armchair psychology?
MAXIMUM: I was thinking about burying the hatchet. It would be easier if we got along, wouldn’t it? A drink… please!
HOLLY: Ugh, I still think you’re an idiot.
MAXIMUM: That’s cool… because I still think you’re a problem. I kind of like it.

While audition dialogue isn’t always an indication of the scenes that will be shown, it often gives us a good idea of what’s in store for the character.

Another audition video showed Max interacting with a character believed to be Karl Kennedy. That scene saw Max offering to fix a car “off the books, cash in hand, no questions asked”, suggesting that Max doesn’t always follow the rules while trying to earn some extra money.

Ben later revealed on his Instagram that he has been filming for almost five months, suggesting that he will remain a permanent new addition to the Neighbors cast.

This morning, Neighbors announced that Rarmian Newton has also joined the cast in the guest role of Sebastian ‘Seb’ Metcalfe.

Seb is “a face from Krista’s past,” who is it “set to send shockwaves through Erinsborough for a long time to come.”

No other information was revealed about the new character, but Krista had a very complicated history while living in the United Kingdom, getting involved with the wrong people and becoming addicted to drugs.

She has managed to put her troubles behind her and build a successful career in Erinsborough, but will Seb’s arrival cause everything to fall apart?
